Getting organized

Ok, I've started a blog to help me keep track of my job search. I'm looking for a new job and I'm hoping the blog will help me keep my search organized, and help keep track of the questions that I need to answer. I'm looking for a new job in environmental consulting, clean energy or at a place with a strong reputation for fostering creativity and getting the most out of people (Google's #1 on this list) - hopefully in SF. This is not going to be an easy endeavor. There are seemingly limitless questions that I need to address and hurdles I need to overcome.

Worrying questions like:

  • Can I really find a job like this?

  • Will I have to take a big pay cut?

  • Will I have to start out at the very bottom, doing something like data entry?

  • Do these jobs even exist?

More practical questions like:

  • What organizations would need someone with my complement of skills?

  • How am I going to meet people doing these?

  • Is there anything that I need to learn or read?

  • What do I need to do to find people and set up informational interviews with them?

Hopefully by chronicling my questions, intermediate steps and everything else, I'll be able to get a plan for finding a job - and make it happen.
